DR. JENNIFER HULME

EMERGENCY MEDICINE BIOGRAPHY

Jennifer Hulme (BScH, MD, CM, MPH, CCFP-EM) is an attending emergency physician at the University Health Network. She completed her Masters in Public Health at John’s Hopkins School of Public Health, and her medical training at McGill University and the University of Toronto. She has held various public heath positions in Canada, Mexico, India, Bangladesh, and Timor-Leste. She worked with the Ministry of Health and non-governmental organizations in expanding family planning, maternal and child survival programs and emergency response in Timor-Leste between 2005 and 2008.

Dr. Hulme is interested in policy-relevant and action-oriented research for health systems strengthening, community-based interventions, and structural interventions for socio-economically marginalized groups. She is particularly interested in affecting reproductive and child health outcomes, and is currently engaged in research exploring disparities in access to women’s health services among underserved populations in Canada, as well as operations research on maternal survival interventions in low resource settings. She is the local principal investigator for the age-adjusted D-Dimer study at UHN. She is also works clinically with Zanmi Lasante as a visiting professor at the Mirebalais Hospital in Haiti.
